Community – Discussion Questions

  1. The video suggests ‘Community’ can be medicine in God’s hands. When you use your time, skills, or money to serve, what is the unexpected boost to your faith or "healing" that you, the giver, often receive in return? Describe a time when you helped carry someone else's burden. How did that act of service—even if it was difficult—make your own faith feel stronger or more grounded than it was before?

  2. The video presents an ideal view of community. Have you been bruised by a church group who has mistreated or hurt you? How has this impacted your faith? Share personal and scriptural solutions to this challenge.

  3. When we actively contribute to the community, it shifts our perspective from being an audience to being a "household" (Luke 12:42). How does this shift deepen your commitment to God compared to when/if your faith was a more private, individual practice?

  4. The video highlights that encouragement can be as simple as "A text. A phone call." Who is one person in your community you know is carrying more than they can handle , and what is the specific, non-judgmental way you can "show up" for them this week?

  5. Our church community is but one of a number that influence us. What other communities (college, work, neighborhood, friendship group, etc.) impact you and your outlook. Share the good and bad influences of these communities and how you manage them.
