New Video Program Release

Good News for Israel is a 20-minute video-tape documentary on Christadelphian preaching efforts in Israel. Viewers will see how leaflet distribution, newspaper advertisement, personal correspondence, and contact follow-up are being blessed by God in bringing more sons and daughters into the Faith. The video introduces Sister Lyena, Brother Victor and his wife, Sister Neena, three of the ten recent converts in Israel.

In an effort to interest Russian immigrants, campaigners employ leaflet distribution and newspaper ads to present a provocative message and offer Bible Basics"a study manual revealing the joy and peace of true Christianity". Using the "good news of the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ’ as subsections, the book presents the gospel in eleven studies, each of which concludes with a series of questions for discussion and for correspondents.

Two to three times a year, preaching teams led by Brother Duncan Heaster spend a week to ten days contacting correspondents (who have indicated that they would like a personal visit, and sometimes, the desire to have an interview for baptism), distributing thousands of leaflets, placing further ads, and paying supportive visits to the new Brothers and Sisters.

Viewers will be encouraged to support this work in the Lord’s vineyard by (a) traveling to Israel to join the next preaching team (b) contributing time and/or money to assist with the correspondence and literature purchase, and (c) praying that the Lord will bless the effort.

The cost of the tape is $10 US, $15 Can., postage included. Orders can be placed by calling 1-800-689-8273 . Mail orders can be sent to the WCF Resource Center, P.O. Box 982, Bloomington, IL, 61702-0982, USA.

Available later in the year, God-willing, is a third program in the series God’s Family Around the World. With a working-title of Strangers in a Strange Land, this video program will provide a glimpse into the lives of the brothers and sisters in Ireland. It features a number of testimonials describing the conversion of these brethren, and how they continue to promote the Truth on the ‘emerald isle’.

New WCF Seminar Offering

Brethren Clive Daniel (Mississauga West ecclesia) and Doug Jackson (Mississauga West ecclesia) have volunteered to make their seminar on Prudent Financial Stewardship available to other ecclesias. Comprised of three hour-long sessions, the seminar includes:

  1. the theory and practical application of setting financial goals
  2. assessing one's financial position and
  3. implementing a process to help ensure financial goals are achieved.

The seminar is conducted in the context of spiritual principles and addresses some of the difficult decisions that need to be made by believers living in a world dominated by materialism.

Anyone interested in hosting this seminar can contact either Brother directly. For further information on this and other seminar/workshop offerings visit the Seminars page.

Readers are reminded that the travel expenses of the presenters/facilitators and costs associated with facility rental will be covered by WCF, if needed.

Here is an update on the four projects for which WCF has solicited contributions:

  1. Bible Basics in Georgian & Estonian ¾ the cost is around $6,000 to have Brother Heaster’s book translated, printed and distributed.
  2. December 1999: total of $3,500 ($3,000 from WCF, $500 from special donation; needed $2,500 more)

WCF Fellow-workers

With the help of its "fellow-workers", WCF has established a network of Brothers and Sisters who have agreed to serve the Christadelphian community by making it more aware of the projects and programs provided by the Foundation. These "fellow-workers" (a term adopted from Col 4:11) come from both Amended and Unamended ecclesias.

As volunteers, "fellow-workers" are in place to inform their ecclesias about WCF’s latest video tape, seminar/workshop offerings, resource material, partnership project etc. They are also positioned to convey information back to the directors (e.g., a Brother/Sister in need who cannot get help from a local ecclesia, suggestions for new seminars, ideas for additional resource material, requests for project funding, updates to the mailing list).

Readers are encouraged to tap into this network source for getting up-to-date information and passing along any comments you may have about WCF activities.

New Director

Brother Ray Pratt (Bloomington ecclesia) has joined the Foundation as a director. His experience as an arranging brother and in the banking business makes Ray a natural choice to take over the role of treasurer from Brother George Booker, who has decided to step down.

Brother George has faithfully served as a WCF director for 12 years. He will be missed.

WCF Web site

Two recent inquiries in the USA were a bit unusual, but illustrate the interest in the WCF website offerings. With respect to the booklet John Thomas and His Rediscovery of Bible Truth, one man wrote: "Please send me 10 copies for my christian bookstore". Another person solicited: "For our church group we would be so very thankful to receive any and all free booklets for learning tools that you may offer".

WCF is planning to make the text of A New Creation and Biblical Fellowship – books by Brother George Booker – available on the web.
